How to Control your TV with your Sky Remote

Advancing technology has brought with it a great many things – convenience, speed and (unfortunately) a mountain of remote controls. It seems like everywhere we look in our living room there’s a remote for something or other; though rarely what we actually need.

Did you know, however, that you can program your Sky remote to control your TV as well as your Sky box? Well, you can, and once set up, you can turn your TV on and off, adjust the volume on the big game on Sky Sports or even change in input source for a quick blast of your favourite video game – all with your humble Sky+ remote.

So, in this guide, we’re going to share with you the steps you need to follow to enable the much-wanted feature. Let’s dig in.

For Sky+ Customers:

Before you get started

You need to know the make and model of your TV. This can usually be found on the back of your television set or in the instruction manual that came with your TV.

You’ll also need to find the version number of your Sky remote. To find this, take off the rear battery cover of your Sky+ remote and look at the topmost sticker, you’ll find your version number there.

Step One: Visit this link and enter the information required to get your code. Your code will be specific to your television and will be four digits long.

Step Two: Make a note of your 4 digit code

Step Three: Press TV on your Sky remote and then hold ‘select’ and the red button until the red light at the top of the remote flashes twice.

Step Four: Enter the four digit code you wrote down earlier and press select once more.

Congratulations! You should now be able to control your TV’s functions through your Sky remote. You can test this by using the volume + and – buttons, but it’s worthwhile making sure all of your function keys are working properly.
